Marvin D. Newton, 78, of Gatewood, Missouri, died Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mr. Newton, son of Jesse and Effie (Rouge) Newton, was born August 27, 1934, in Trigg County, Kentucky. He had worked in mechanics as a welder. Mr. Newton enjoyed fishing and working around the house. He was a Mason, a life-time member of the NRA and a member of the V. F. W. Post #3485. Mr. Newton was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.
On April 20, 2000, he was married to Kathryn Grapevine in Doniphan. She survives.
Also surviving are four step-daughters: Marilyn Sharar of East Peoria, Illinois, Pamala Weatherford of Hillsboro, Missouri, Donna Whith.march of Springfield, Texas, and Joyce Stahl of Marquette Heights, Illinois; two sisters, Juanita Montgomery of Alabama and Linda King of Iowa; two brothers, James Newton of Illinois and George Newton of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Effie Newton, and one grandchild.
A private burial is planned.
