Elva Charles Tillman, 80, a lifetime resident of Doniphan, Missouri, died Thursday, December 6, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Tillman was born February 11, 1927, in Doniphan. He was a logger in the timber industry. Mr. Tillman served with the U. S. Army during World War II in Japan and was a charter and lifetime member of the Doniphan VFW Post #3485. He was also a member of the Doniphan American Legion and was of the Christian faith. On April 18, 1947, he was married to Ethel McNew in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Ernest Tillman and Edward Tillman, both of Doniphan; two daughters, Elaine Ormsby and Donna Sandlin, both of Doniphan; two sisters, Ella Bodkin and Charlene Borth and two brothers, John Tillman and Ervon Tillman, all of Doniphan; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Elwayne C. Tillman, his parents, Charles Tillman and Belle Warren Tillman, three brothers, Perry Tillman, Lloyd Tillman and Floyd Tillman, three sisters, Sylvia Nelson, Mary Tillman and Pearl Meadors and two grandchildren, Dawnene Tillman and Justin Tillman. Visitation will be Sunday, December 9, 2007, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Monday, December 10, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brother Hubert Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Amity Cemetery.
