Maxine Campbell, 78, long time resident of Carter County, Missouri, died February 5, 2011, at Colonial Home in Doniphan Missouri, a facility that she helped start. Mrs. Campbell, daughter of the late James and Pearl (Cunningham) Wisong, was born March 15, 1932, in Thomasville, Missouri. She was employed as a registered nurse and had been Director of Nursing at Ripley County Memorial Hospital and Doniphan Retirement Home. Mrs. Campbell had also worked at Colonial Home, Walnut Street Boarding Home, Current River Nursing Center and Home Health in her nursing profession. Her dedication in taking care of others led to her career in nursing, leaving a wonderful legacy by all the lives she touched. Mrs. Campbell attended Good Hope General Baptist Church and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and embroidering. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Grandin Chapter and was a past Worthy Matron. She was married to Morris Q. Campbell on June 7, 1952, in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 4, 1997. Mrs. Campbell is survived by two sons; Rodger Campbell of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Richard Campbell of Hernando, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Ryan Crihfield, Evan Campbell, Layci Campbell, Payton Campbell, and David Brown. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will begin Tuesday, February 8, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral will be Wednesday morning, February 9, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Pete Joplin officiating. Burial will be at Good Hope Cemetery in Grandin.
