Alva Walter "Doug" Long, 81, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Friday, September 28, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Long, son of Alva and Stella (Vincent) Long was born June 8, 1931, in Algora, Arkansas. He had been a steelworker. Mr. Long was also a farmer, raising hogs and corn and enjoyed carpentry and gardening. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He had formerly lived in Windfall, Indiana. On May 12, 1965, he was married to Bonita (Lange) at Tipton, Indiana. She survives. Also surviving are three sons; Steve Long, Walter Long and Donnie Long, all of Doniphan; three sisters, Maryetta Cudill of Gas City, Indiana, Ivonne Webster of Kokomo, Indiana, and Iva Lee Ford of Doniphan; one brother, Milton Long of Doniphan; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Danny Long, his parents, Alva and Stella Long and three siblings, Leahman Long, Almetta Clem and Roy David Long. Visitation for Mr. Long will take place Tuesday, October 2, 2012, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Wednesday morning, October 3, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother John Harwell officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomfield Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, with full military honors..
