Joseph Henry "Joe" Whaley, 72, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Whaley was born July 9, 1935, at Pine, Missouri. He was a timber worker and a retired auto mechanic. He liked to eat, smoke his pipe and enjoyed going to auctions and car shows. On September 19, 1965, he was married to Anna Catherine Haney at Handy, Missouri. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Joseph Whaley (and Theresa) and Zane Whaley (and Christy), both of Doniphan; three sisters, Marie Marc of Seattle, Washington, Shirley Gentry of Bement, Illinois, and Laverne Cothren of Doniphan; five grandchildren, Kelsie Brewer Whaley, Amber Whaley, Younger Whaley, Alicia Joyner and Nathan Joyner; and one great-grandchild, Josalin Rice. Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Clarence Whaley and Ila Marie Baumgardner Whaley and one sister, Margaret Russell. Visitation will be Saturday, December 1, 2007, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, December 2, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the Handy Church in Handy with Brother Randy Whiteside and Brother Jim Probst officiating. Burial will follow in the Handy Cemetery.
