Claudia May Payne, 77-year-old resident of Doniphan, died Friday, November 23, 2007, at Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan, Missouri.
Mrs. Payne was born May 2, 1930, in Fountain, Colorado, to the late Walter & Margaret (Leslie) Faulkner. She was a dietician at Ripley County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Payne enjoyed quilting, reading and embroidering. She attended Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.
On November 30, 1946, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, she was married to Dossie Payne. He survives. Also surviving are one son, Melvin & Melodye Payne of Jackson, Tennessee; three daughters, Janice Colburn & C.H., Yvonne Hawkins, and Arlene Kohlmeyer all of Doniphan; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Dennis & Larry Payne, one son-in-law, Mike Kohlmeyer, and one brother, Leslie Faulkner.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, from 5-8 PM at Edwards Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, November 28, at 2 PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Clint Colburn officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
