Elsie Marie Mansfield, 69-year-old resident of Doniphan, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at her residence in Doniphan, MO. Mrs. Mansfield was born June 7, 1938 in Portageville to the late Castle & Elsa B. (Ford) Portwood. She was a head start teacher for 33 years. Mrs. Mansfield enjoyed genealogy, arts & crafts. She was a member of Hayward Baptist Church in Portageville. On May 18, 1956 in New Madrid, MO, she married Eugene Mansfield, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Shiela Meador of Portageville; three sons, Demsey Mansfield of Kennett, David Mansfield of Maryville, LA, & Jeff Mansfield of Wichita KS; one sister Bonnie Bivens of Buffalo, MO; one brother Eugene Portwood of Briar, MO; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mansfield was preceded in death by one son Jimmy Mansfield; one sister Maxine Portwood; and three brothers Jack Portwood, John Portwood, and Phillip Portwood. Visitation will be Saturday Nov. 24 from 5-8 pm with funeral services Sunday Nov. 25 at 1 PM. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery, with the Bro. Larry Portwood Officiating.
