Verneal Lilly Griffin, 94, life-long resident of Ripley County, Missouri, died Friday, August 17, 2012, at The Manor in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mrs. Griffin, daughter of Clay and Annie (King) Holland, was born May 5, 1918, in Tucker, Missouri. She had worked at Vitronic Manufacturing and was a food service employee at Doniphan High School. She enjoyed flowers, fishing with Sam, gardening, especially her tomatoes, and she liked participating in the Doniphan Pioneer Days by demonstrating the art of making lye soap. Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Doniphan Church of Christ. On September 7, 1935, she was married to Samuel M. Griffin in Doniphan, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1988. Surviving are one son, Bob Griffin and his wife, Pat, of Doniphan and one daughter, Anna Griffin Holder of Poplar Bluff; one daughter-in-law, Judy Griffin, of Jefferson City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Matt (and Angie) Griffin, Sam (and Regina) Griffin, Dave Young, Steve Young, and Debbie McIntire; nine great-grandchildren, Spencer Griffin, Keegan Griffin, Julian Griffin, Mercedes Gowen, Sidney Young, Bailey (and Derek) Collins, Lindsey McIntire, Lacey McIntire and Tim (and Monica) McIntire; and three great-great-grandchildren, Hannah Collins, Lane Collins and Seamus McIntire. Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by one son, Cliff Griffin, her parents, Clay and Annie Holland, her husband, Samuel Griffin, and three brothers, Guy Holland, Russell Holland and Wilford Holland. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, August 19, 2012, from 4 - 6 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will begin Monday morning, August 20, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
