Obituary of Florence Casteel Steward

Florence Irene Casteel Steward, 89, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. Mrs. Steward, daughter of Joe and Lucindia (Hayes) Medling, was born May 14, 1923, in Doniphan. She had worked at Vitronic Manufacturing. Mrs. Steward had attended the Assembly of God Church for over 50 years. She was married to John Steward and he survives. Also surviving are two sons; John Kennon of Maynard, Arkansas, and Larry Casteel of Doniphan; one daughter, Connie Steele of Doniphan; two step-sons, John Steward, Jr. of Doniphan and Daniel Steward of Fairdealing, Missouri; three step-daughters, Beverly Wayman, Brenda Taylor and Rita Futrell, all of Doniphan; and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Joe Kennon and Louie Casteel, two sisters, Sally Cline and Bertha Taylor, and three brothers, James Medling, Homer Medling and Brother John Medling. Visitation for Mrs. Steward will be held Friday evening, August 10, 2012, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will start on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Jim Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Towles Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Towles Cemetery or to the National Arthritis Foundation.
