Obituary of Ray Whitaker

Rhydon Joy "Ray" Whitaker, 62, of Doniphan, Missouri, died May 28, 2012, at Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. Mr. Whitaker, son of the late Vardy Henry and Louise (Renalds) Whitaker, was born July 6, 1949, in Fresno, California. He had worked on farms and in the timber industry. Mr. Whitaker enjoyed going camping where he would hunt and fish. He was married to Oddera Stufflebean on January 11, 1974, in Hunter, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2004. Survivors include: two sons, James (Meagan) Whitaker and Freddie (Cara) Whitaker, both of Doniphan; one daughter, Marie (Billy) Wallace of Doniphan; one sister, Kathy Weber of Shingle Springs, California, and two brothers, Leon Whitaker of Dalley Springs, California, and Andrew (Euie) Whitaker of Valley Springs, California; and four grandchildren, Zachary Tylar Whitaker, Raven Ann Whitaker, Alexander Rhydon Whitaker and Bella Oddera Fay Whitaker; one step-grandson, Frankie Louis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mary Wallace, Tynie (Tiny) Deweesee and Lucille Gist, and one brother Raymond Whitaker. Visitation will be Thursday evening, May 31, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home from 5-7 PM with the funeral service starting Thursday May 31, 2012, at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel with Brother Donnie Sanford officiating.
