Helen Jane Baker, 88, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday evening, April 24, 2012, at the Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan.
Mrs. Baker, daughter of William Authur and Matilda (Steppert) Gendron, was born June 11, 1923, in Wausau, Wisconsin. She was a housewife and enjoyed taking care of her family.
On July 10, 1948, she was married to Charles Henry Baker in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 14, 1981.
Surviving are two sons; Dr. Charles Baker of Overland Park, Kansas, and Mike Baker of Doniphan; four daughters, Charleen Strothkamp of Springfield, Missouri, Kathy Howard of Sherman, Illinois, Vicki Carson of Bolivar, Missouri, and Barbara Maples of Highlandville, Missouri; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Matilda Gendron, her husband, Charles Baker and one son, James Baker.
A mass for Mrs. Baker will take place Saturday morning, April 28, 2012, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Doniphan at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will follow at noon at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. Graveside services will start at 2:00 p.m. at the Good Hope Cemetery near Doniphan.
