Essie Christene Allen, 93-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Friday, January 17, 2025. She was born January 3, 1932, in Doniphan, MO, to the late Fred and Essie (Harris) Boyles.

Christene had worked at Vitronic, but her focus and joy in life was raising her family and her Christian faith. She was a devoted homemaker, raising her children with love and care. She also found great fulfillment in crocheting and quilting as well as making her own clothes. Even at the age of 92, she was still often seen at her sewing machine. Christene was a member of Oak Grove Church of God and served faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher, sharing her wisdom and love of Christ.

On February 29, 1948, Essie married George Allen in Doniphan. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2022. She was also preceded by one son, Everett Tracy Allen, and three brothers, Junior, Cecil, and Lawrence.

Surviving are her children, Kenneth Edward Allen of Bloomfield, MO, Charolette Ann Fitzgerald of Salem, MO, Lawrence Wayne Allen, Fred Harper Allen, and Boyd Lee Allen, all of Doniphan; a sister, Betty Roehl of St. Peters, MO; 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at noon. Brother Danny Miller will be officiating, and burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
