Charles Clark Hudson, a godly man devoted to his faith and his family, went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2024.

Born to Chester and Jean Hudson on January 5, 1929, he is survived by his wife, Marlene; his sons, Kye (Julie), Brett (Sharon), Toby (Tina); his daughter, Tami; and grandchildren, Aaron, Caleb, Zac, Taylor, Lauren, Hayley, Callie, Julianna, Marnie Kate, and Corbin; and six great grandchildren.

Born in Kansas City, Kansas, Charles graduated from Kansas State University, served in both the Army and Navy and married Marlene in 1952. He worked over 30 years as a petroleum engineer for Exxon Company, USA in Kansas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. In 1980 he took early retirement, and he, Marlene, and Tami moved to live on 200 acres outside Doniphan, MO. They embraced country living, building a log home, clearing land, and tending a big garden. Charles and Marlene loved the outdoors, and southern Missouri gave them ready access to one of their passions, canoeing, which they shared with kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Charles was also involved in his community, serving as a poll volunteer during elections, was a member of the school board, and for many years was a member of the Pine/Bardley Volunteer Fire Department. Charles loved the Lord, and when their remote location made church attendance more difficult, he still prepared a devotional he shared every Sunday with whoever was worshipping in their living room. He also kept a vial of oil on hand to anoint anyone receiving a healing prayer.

At 91 Charles was still bush hogging with his tractor and clearing downed trees from their mile-long driveway. When keeping up 200 acres became too much for him and Marlene, they moved to Ozark to be close to their daughter, Tami.         

Charles lived a long, full life and is already greatly missed.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 28, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Pine Cemetery.
