Wilma Louise Cure Obituary

Wilma Louise Cure, 74-year-old resident of Grandin, MO, departed this life Tuesday, October 8, 2024. She was born on January 13, 1950, at Kensett, AR, to the late James and Hazel (Leonard) Beaman.

Wilma had been a manager for four seasons at a ski resort in Hancock, MA, meeting many people and embracing a variety of responsibilities. She was a strong woman, and this strength helped her excel in all situations. Active in the churches she attended, Logan Creek Baptist and Fairview Baptist, she and Sam contributed significantly by performing many helpful deeds, often behind the scenes. These were acts of kindness that are important but often not noticed by others. Wilma liked to spend time with others whether it was cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren leaving a lasting impact, or contributing to her bowling team. Wilma’s passion for life was also reflected in her love for flowers, whether nurturing her own garden or simply admiring their beauty when on her leisure outing. Wilma also liked to venture out on shopping trips.

On December 1, 1997, Wilma married Samuel L. Cure in Williamstown, MA. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2017. She was also preceded by her sibling: a sister, Mary “Lucille” Mullins, and a brother, Ralph Beaman.

Surviving are her children, Julia (Billy) Howard of Grandin, MO, Nancy (Nolan) Sullivan of Doniphan, MO, Wendy Raney, of Poplar Bluff, MO, Sheila Orick also of Poplar Bluff, Donna (Tim) Roden of New Lebanon, NY, and Joseph Cure of New Hampshire. Also surviving are her 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 12, 2024, beginning at noon with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Brother Jerry McDowell will be officiating, and burial will be at Beaver Dam Cemetery.
