Obituary of Richard Cornelius
Richard Joseph Cornelius, age 70, passed from this life on September 16, 2024, in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born on December 1, 1953. He spent all of his formative years in Doniphan, Missouri. He enjoyed all the outdoor activities of swimming and fishing in Current River. After graduating high school, Richard served honorably in the Marine Corps, a commitment that reflected his patriotic dedication and discipline. After his military service, he channeled his leadership skills into owning, operating, and managing body shops across various cities and states. His entrepreneurial spirit was only overshadowed by his profound spiritual dedication. He founded a church in Watertown, NY, affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church (UPC), which became a nurturing ground for multiple preachers who have gone on to reflect his deep faith and commitment to Jesus and the gospel. Richard had committed his life to preaching the word of the Bible and brought many lost souls to Christ.
Beyond his professional and spiritual contributions, Richard was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with all of his family that brought many precious moments of joy and laughter. Above all, spending time with his grandchildren was his favorite pastime, cherishing every moment he could teach, guide, and simply be with them.
Richard had three children; beloved daughter: Priscilla Talley (Jeremy) of Jonesboro, AR; Joshua Cornelius (deceased); and son, Caleb Cornelius (Vanessa)Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren: Alexis Beavers (Colton), Joscelyn Cornelius, Chance Talley, Jaelin Cornelius, Evelyn Cornelius, Elijah “Buddy” Cornelius; and great-grandchild, Laikyn “Peanut” Beavers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Harper, and also his son, Joshua Cornelius.
A service to honor Richard's life will be held at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan, Missouri on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 12 PM. Richard's life was a testament to his resilience, faith, and the deep love he had for his family and his God. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him and leave a positive mark on this world.
