Helen Bunting, 91-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Monday, August 26, 2024. Born on July 16, 1933, in Bastrop, TX, Helen was the daughter of the late Martin and Marcella (Castillo) Salazar.

 

Helen’s career as a beautician reflected her vibrant personality and love for beauty. She had a passion for reading, visiting with friends and neighbors, and storytelling. Helen was a warm and welcoming homemaker who enjoyed cooking and sewing. She also liked to go dancing. Helen was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

 

On September 14, 1967, in Bellview, IL, Helen married Glen Finn Bunting. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2020. She was also preceded by a sister, Ruth Copus, and brothers, Eliase Salazar and Eliaso Salazar.

 

Surviving is her daughter Sylvia Vinson of Doniphan; grandchildren, James (Tonya) Secrease of Festus, MO, Rob (Melissa) Secrease, also of Festus, and Coty (Charles) Wilson of East Prairie; great-grandchildren, Hayle Day, Macie Berry, Garrett Secrease, Lucas Secrease, Camdyn Wilson, Cadyn Wilson, and Cohen Wilson; and great-great-grandchildren, Bentley Day and Everleigh Day.

 

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 14, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Jared Hancock will be officiating.
