Obituary of Janice Elaine Hay

Please share a memory of Janice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Janice Elaine Hay, 86, of Pelham, GA, departed this life on July 4, 2024.  She was born July 13, 1937, in Rockford, IL, to

the late John and Alice (Albright) Hayes.

On June 30, 1956, Elaine married Clarence Franklin “Oz” Hay.  They had marked 64 years of marriage before he passed away on July 19, 2020.

Elaine was the bookkeeper for Hay Brothers Enterprises, which included a fabrication and mechanical business in Sikeston, MO.  She was musically talented and was a part of the Sikeston Community Choir during the time she and Oz resided in the Sikeston area.  In keeping with the family business and Oz’s love of engines and automobiles, Elaine’s favorite thing to do was go to the truck-pulls with Oz and spend time with her family.  She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Surviving are her children, Sherry (Tim) McCoy of Pelham, GA; and Dan (Sherri) Hay of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Joshua (Lillian), Anthony (Heather), Mallory, Zakk (Deanna), Madison, and R.J.; and great-grandchildren, Landyn, Piper, Macaila, Hannah, Wesley, JR., Ryker, Jameson, and Milano.  She also leaves behind dear caregivers, Penny, Kay, Crystal, Maxine, and Teresa.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM.  Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Briar, MO.
