Obituary of James "Jimmy" Stratton

James "Jimmy" Ray Stratton, 43, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Stratton, son of Ray and Ruby (Elliott) Stratton, was born September 24, 1968, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. A lifetime resident of Doniphan, he was a timber worker alongside his Dad. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing poker on his computer and his favorite singer was Elvis Presley. He adored being a husband and father to his children and a grandpa to his grandson. Mr. Stratton attended Faith Seventh Day Baptist Church. He was married to Rebecca Haven in Fairdealing, Missouri, on November 30, 1985, and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Amber, Allen and Ashley, all of the home; one grandson, Daniel Stratton; his parents, Ray and Ruby Stratton; his mother-in-law, Irene Schaffer of Washington, Missouri; three sisters, Sandy Johnson and husband, Donnie, Tonya Dale and husband, Craig, and Jeanna Tillman and husband, Junior, all of Doniphan. He was preceded in death by one sister, Carla Portwood, and his grandparents, James and Wilma Elliott of Doniphan and Oscar and Lear Stratton of Poplar Bluff. Visitation for Mr. Stratton will be held on Tuesday evening, March 6, 2012, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Wednesday morning, March 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ron Elston officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
