Obituary of Joe Knapp

Joseph “H. “Joe” Knapp, 72, of Grandin, MO, departed this life Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born September 19, 1951, in St. Louis to the late Stephan and Shirley (Kern) Knapp.

Joe had worked as a truck driver and drove all over St. Louis City. After many years on the road, he was employed as the night shift manager for Vitronic. Joe loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also was a skilled mechanic who could work on any type of engine.

On March 21, 2001, Joe married Susan Townsend. She survives. Also surviving are his sons, Joseph (Melissa) Knapp, Jr. of Ellington, MO and James (Ellen) Knapp of Huntsville, Alabama; a stepson, George Riggins, and stepdaughter, Tammy Joy; a sister, Margie Knapp of Grandin; and two brothers, John (Debbie) Knapp of Doniphan and George (Wilma) Knapp of Poynor, MO. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Sarah (Daniel) Dale, Timothy Knapp, Joshua Knapp, Joellen Joy, Michael Knapp, and Jennifer Knapp, and a great-granddaughter, Alice Dale.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Stephan Knapp.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grandin-Carter County Cemetery.
