Arvel William Braschler, 88, a retired farmer of the Pratt Community died Friday March 2, 2012 in Ripley County Memorial Hospital, only three weeks before his 89th birthday. Arvel was born on March 23, 1923 to parents John and Minnie (Boxx) Braschler. He attended Ripley County Schools and in 1942 became actively involved in the agriculture of Ripley County. On June 10, 1945 in Poyner he married Jewell "Judy" Harman. She survives. Arvel served on Farm Bureau Extension Service, Ripley County ASCS Committees while farming his Missouri Century Farm until his retirement in 1989. He was a longtime member of the Doniphan First Church of God where he served on the Board of Trustees and Elder Board, taught Sunday School classes, and sang in church quartets and the sanctuary choir. Arvel was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He made many trips out West, hunting with his family and friends, fishing trips to Canada and Texas, but his favorite was always fishing on the Current River. He took the family on many summer vacations pulling their trailer over the Western United States of America. Some of Arvel's most treasured time was hunting on the farm with his family instilling in them the values of nature and conservation. Survivors include his wife Judy of the home, a son Jerry Braschler and his wife Connie of Dixon, MO, two grandsons Jared Braschler and wife Jessica of Ozark, MO and Kyle Braschler of Springfield, MO, three step-grandchildren Matthew Pyle and wife Ashli of Blue Springs, MO, Travis Pyle and wife Michelle and Suzanne Hutson and husband Adam of Springfield, MO and six step great-grandchildren Payton Pyle, Marley Pyle, Logan Pyle, Addison Hutson, Annalise Hutson, & Amelia Hutson, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Arvel was preceded in death by his parents John and Minnie Braschler, four brothers, Clifford, Melvin, Paul, and Weaver, two sisters Dorothy Pearce and Inez Miller. Visitation will be 5-8pm Sunday March 4, 2012 at First Church of God in Doniphan. Funeral Services will be 1 PM Monday March 5, 2012 at First Church of God in Doniphan with Bro. Larry Earl officiating. Burial will follow at the Doniphan City Cemetery. Memorial maybe made to: Camp Sharon at Lake of the Ozarks or Doniphan First Church of God.
