Virginia “Ginger” Marie Fairris, 85, of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Tuesday, May 7, 2024. She was born September 22, 1938, in Poplar Bluff, MO, to the late Roy Marshall and Mildred (Burgin) Ederer Yarbrough.

She was a member of The United Methodist Church in Doniphan. Ginger had been employed for 10 years at Manchester Bank in St. Louis and also worked for the City of Doniphan at City Hall. Her hobbies included working crossword puzzles, watching Cardinals baseball games, and feeding hummingbirds and deer.

In 1963, Ginger married Douglas Snyder. He preceded her in death. In 1988, she married Luther Ray Dell Fairris, and he, too, preceded her in death. Ginger and Ray were married just shy of 30 years and enjoyed a beautiful life together.  She was also preceded by her sister, Lillian Martin; brother-in-law, Jesse Martin; nephew, Mitchell Martin; and her stepdads, Albert “Junior” Ederer and Cleo Yarbrough.

She is survived by nieces, Debra (Mike) Reichert of St Louis, MO and Cathy (John) Ferry of Dupo, IL; great-nieces, Angie Reichert and Rebecca (Tyler) White; a great-nephew, E. J. Reichert; and great-great nephew Anthony VanHorn. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Rhonda Kay Fairris-Dolunt (Rick) of Allen Park, Michigan, and Kevin Ray Fairris (Mandy) of Cleveland, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brittany Pappas (Terry), Jillian Dolunt, Brooke Dolunt-Edwards (Elijah), Amber Dolunt, Kaiden Ray Fairris, Lily Garrett, Kennedy Garrett, and Avery Garrett; and great-grandchildren, Veda Martin, Gavin Martin and Calix Pappas.  Ginger will also be missed by many cousins and friends.  She was a loving, wonderful person who will be missed and fondly remembered.  

 

A memorial service is planned for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Doniphan, MO, at the Doniphan Presbyterian Church, which also serves the Doniphan United Methodist Church congregation. It is at 209 Locust Street in Doniphan.
