Dorothy L. Looney, 88-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Wednesday, May 1, 2024. She was born December 11, 1935, in Ripley County, to the late Virgil and Opal (Decker) Ponder.

Dorothy had worked at Vitronic for 26 years as a typesetter. She was also an exemplary housewife and mother, lovingly taking care of her family and home. As a gardener, Dorothy grew beautiful flowers and reaped a bountiful harvest from her garden which also kept her busy canning.

On June 26, 1955, Dorothy married Robert E. “Bob” Looney in Doniphan, and he survives. Also surviving is their daughter, Sandra (Kelly) Wilson of McCalla, AL, and grandson, Tim Walton.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Robert Looney.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 4, 2024, beginning at 9:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 9:30 a.m. Brother Luther Abbott will be officiating, and burial will follow in Amity Cemetery.
