Andrew J. Sukel, Jr., 65, of Briar, Missouri, died Saturday, February 18, 2012, at home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Sukel, son of Andrew and Nellie (Seliga) Sukel, Sr., was born October 11, 1946, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. He was retired from General Foam/Tennaco Chemicals. Mr. Sukel had coached both little league baseball and midget football in West Hazleton. He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Marines, having served in Vietnam and was a member of the V.F.W. He was also a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Doniphan.
On February 15, 1969, he was married to Elizabeth (Betty) Sypeck at the Transfiguration Church in West Hazleton, Pennsylvania. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Andrew Sukel and his wife, Carolyn, and Scott Sukel and his wife, Jen; one daughter, Laura Briggs and her husband, Robert Briggs, Sr.; two grandchildren, Emily and Katherine Sukel; step-grandchildren, Damon, Zack, Tyler and Logan Starner and Amanda and Robert Briggs, Jr.; and special friends, Steve and Betty Turner and Jim O'Neal and all the many friends that he had made over the years in Pennsylvania and Missouri.
Burial will be in West Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
A local memorial service will be held Saturday morning, March 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
