Obituary of Bob Lewis

Robert “Bob” Lee Lewis, a beloved resident of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the age of 76, surrounded by his loved ones at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 30, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, to his parents Vernon and Bertha (Arnold) Lewis.

Bob began his working career in the Oil Fields and was a dedicated musician throughout his life. He passed down his passion for music to his children and grandchildren, encouraging each one to develop and pursue their individual style. On any given day you could find him operating the "Downtown Music Store," where he sold, repaired, and provided lessons on various musical instruments. Bob enjoyed golfing, old cars, and was never afraid of change.

On July 25, 1970, in Doniphan, Missouri, he united in marriage with Barbara Decker, who survives him. The two really were one, inseparable and were fearless in their life’s adventures.

He has left a great legacy to his children: Rodley (Jeanne) Lewis, Katrina (Gaylon) Harper, Bobette (Bruce) Punches, Joy Lewis, Bob Lewis Jr., and Nanette (Travis) Jordan. In addition to his children, he leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, a testament to the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Carrie Lewis, one brother, Butch Lewis, and two sisters, Barb Caldwell and Kathy Hawkins.

Robert "Bob" Lee Lewis will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory lives on through the music he shared, the joy he brought, and the cherished moments with family. May he rest in peace.

Visitation will be held at Edwards Funeral Home on Tuesday October 24, 2023, from 5 to 7 pm. with a funeral service at 7 pm.   A private family burial will be held at a later date.
