Lillian Beatrice (Hampton) Thompson, 86, formerly of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Gardenview Care Center in Chesterfield, MO. Mrs. Thompson, daughter of Charles A. and Zelpha Anna (Wade) Hampton, was born December 19, 1925 in Swift, Missouri. On July 4, 1941, she was married to Lloyd Kennon Thompson at Braggadocio, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1995. For the first 30 years of their married life, Mrs. Thompson and her husband were farmers in Southeast Missouri. Later, she worked as a school cook and bus driver in the Doniphan Public Schools. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson lived in St. Charles, Missouri from 1969-1981, during which time she worked as a retail clerk for W. T. Grant, and as a cook and aide at an assisted living residence. In 1981, they returned to Doniphan. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed quilting, fishing, reading, raising a large garden, canning, cooking, and most of all, her family. She was a member of the Doniphan Church of Christ. Surviving are three children: Gene (and Jeanie) Thompson of Doniphan; Charles (and Barbara) Thompson of Creve Coeur, Missouri; and Roger (and Lori) Thompson of Wildwood, Missouri; three sisters, Linda Logan, of Doniphan; Mintie (and Ron) Maley of Memphis, Tennessee; and Irene (and Alden) Pakros of Umpqua, Oregon; one brother, Jerry (and Joy) Clark of Tallulah, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Chuck Thompson (and Kayrn Crosby) of New York City; Donna (and Ed) Labor and Jennifer (and Dave) Walters, both of Dallas, Texas; Leslie (and Hunter) MacDonald of Newport Beach, California; Tracy Elam of Wildwood, Missouri; and Sarah (and Jeff) Lipka of St. Charles, Missouri; Kelly (and Tyler) Wasman of Ballwin, Missouri; twelve great-grandchildren and one on the way, and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Raymond Clark and Charles (Buddy) Clark, and her daughter, Carolyn Marie Thompson, who died on May 17, 1960. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, February 9, 2012, from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow Friday morning, February 10, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Doctor Michael Phelps of the Doniphan First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Doniphan City Cemetery. After the burial, lunch will be provided for family and friends at First Baptist Church, 308 Walnut, Doniphan. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Alzheimer's Association, or a charity of your choice, will be appreciated.
