Obituary of Elizabeth Lynettia Fish

Elizabeth Lynettia Fish, 75, of Doniphan, MO, and formerly of Gatewood, MO, departed this life Thursday, April 27, 2023. She was born July 12, 1947, in Red Bluff, CA, to the late Conrad and Violet (Tinker) Jones.

Elizabeth loved learning and working with children. That love was reflected in her career in education where she worked as a teacher, principal and then superintendent of elementary schools. She acknowledged the importance of being a life-long learner not only for others but also for herself as she earned two doctoral degrees. Elizabeth was involved in the community and served as a community volunteer with the Current River Heritage Museum and the Ponder Boosters. She was of the Church of Christ faith.

On December 20, 1968, Elizabeth married Herbert Fish in Sedalia, MO. He survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Sherry (Jay) Rowland of Minneapolis, MN; a stepson, Duane (Sherry) Fish of Fredericktown, MO; grandchildren, Indigo Rowland and Locke Rowland; a step grandson, Steven (Sarah) Fish; and a step great-grandson, Levi Fish.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her sisters, Katy and Margaret, and a brother, Gordon.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Ponder Cemetery. Brother Dan Murdock will be officiating.
