Obituary of Jerry Don Griffith
Jerry Don Griffith was born December 26, 1941, to Perry R and Grace R Griffith. He departed this world on April 21,2023. He was the youngest of eight children. Daddy spent most of his life living in northern Arkansas. There he met our Momma, Trudy (Caughron) Griffith, surviving. They were married on August 31,1962. Together they raised seven children, James Griffith of Memphis, TN, Taleana (Danny) Short of Doniphan, MO, Cindy Downs of Little Rock, AR, Sabrina (Gene) Burns of Jonesboro, AR, Perry (Tanya) Griffith of Doniphan, MO, Daya (John) Krumenacker of Doniphan, MO, and Jason Griffith of Memphis, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Nelda Leigh Griffith, Betty Sue Griffith, Norma Burns, Loretta Cole, and one son-in-law, Bill Downs. Also surviving are two brothers, Delmar (Irene) Griffith of Idaho Falls, ID, Winston (Sally) Griffith of Chehalis, WA, and his beloved sister, Helen Norris of Harrisburg, AR, many nieces and nephews, sixteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
Though he only had an eighth-grade education, Daddy was a carpenter by trade, building nearly 300 houses in the Jonesboro, AR area. He enjoyed spending time with his family, mowing the yard, woodworking, and gifting his projects to others. We will treasure his creations always. Daddy passed on his love and skill of carpentry to his children, as we worked alongside him on weekends and throughout the summers. In 1997 Daddy accomplished his lifelong dream and walked across the stage to receive his high school diploma. His entire family was there to proudly cheer him on.
Daddy was of the Christian faith and a member of the United Church of God. His love for others touched the lives of so many and there was always room for one more, both at the family table and in his heart.
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, beginning at noon with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Tim Hall will be officiating, and burial will be in the Logan Creek Cemetery.
