Obituary of Shirley Ann Ballard

Shirley Ann Ballard, 86-year-old life-long resident of Doniphan, departed this world on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Arkansas Continued Care Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. She was born on September 9, 1936, in Doniphan, to Vester and Ruth (Featherston) Hodo.

Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved spending time with her family and her friends and getting out in the yard to work and tend to her flowers.   She was quick-witted, an avid Diet Dr. Pepper drinker, and had seen nearly every classic movie that had ever been made.  She also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel.   Shirley was member of the Doniphan Church of Christ. 

On March 17, 1956, Shirley married Max Ballard in Hernando, MS, and they were married for nearly 60 years. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2015.

Surviving is her daughter, Kim Dossey of Fleming Island, FL; a brother, Don (Mary) Hodo of Willow Springs, MO; sisters, June (Bob) Boyet of Fairview, TN and Kathy Hodo of Poplar Bluff, MO; and sisters-in-law, Pat Harris and Shirley Saunders of Springfield, MO.   Also surviving is her granddaughter, Elyse (John) Girard of Charlottesville, VA and great-granddaughter, Marlowe.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date.
