Raymond Donald Walters, 89, of Alton, MO, died Saturday, August 18, 2007, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Walters was born March 27, 1918, in Rochester, IN, to the late John & Bertha (Gray) Walters. He was a former Furniture repair and deliveryman and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shiners. Mr. Walters was a member of Many Springs Church. Mr. Walters was a U.S. Army Air core veteran and served in the World War II. In 1946, he was married to Geraldine Harder Walter in South Bend, IN. She preceded him in death in 1982. Surviving are one son; John Walters and wife Sandra of Alton, MO, two grandchildren John Walters jr. and Rebecca Peace and husband Jeff all of Alton, MO; three great-grandchildren Danielle Walters, Jeffery Peace and Arial Peace all of Alton and two great nieces Cindy Pownell of Logansport, IN and Karen Capper of IN. Mr. Walters was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Mary Ellen Walters; one sister Annabell Alber and one brother Paul Walters. Visitation will be on Monday August 20, 2007, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Many Springs Church. The funeral service will Tuesday August 21, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Robert Wiggs officiating. Burial will be in Many Springs Cemetery.
