Obituary of Terry Lynn Cheek

Terry Lynn Cheek, 65, of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Monday, December 12, 2022. She was born June 28, 1957, in Washington, D C, to Thomas Jefferson and Jane Marie (Hatton) Jenkins.

 

Growing up in Maryland, Terry was hired out of high school to join the secret service. She was an independent person who was “larger than life”. Her personality and sense of humor were a perfect fit for her job with the secret service where she developed close bonds with coworkers making them lifelong friends and turning these friendships into lasting relationships. Terry loved her job, the agents, and coworkers. Upon her retirement, Terry fell in love with an 80-acre farm and house with a lake in front and made her move to Doniphan and rural Ripley County. As an animal lover, her new home offered Terry the opportunity to add cows, which she knew by name, to the horses she already owned. Terry had horses since she was a child. She also was a dog trainer and had raised and trained Pointer dogs.

 

Surviving is her daughter, Kelley Lynn Cheek of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Sharon (Gerald) Mills of Oxford, FL and Amy (Tim) Crocker of Woodstock, AL.

 

Private family services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
