Bessie Laura Alice Yarber, 87, of Gatewood, Missouri, died Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Mrs. Yarber, daughter of G. B. and Amanda (Martin) Sutherland, was born March 10, 1924, in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She was a housewife and enjoyed doing crafts. Mrs. Yarber attended Warm Springs General Baptist Church as well as New Home Church.
On May 18, 1947, she was married to Johnnie Clarence Yarber in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2001.
Surviving are two children, Johnnie Dennis Yarber of Gatewood, Missouri, and Linda Gale Risner of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas; one sister, Clarice Puryear of Independence, Kansas, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will begin at noon Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Wayne Cloven officiating. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery.
