Obituary of Ona Esther Elkins

Ona Esther Elkins, 100, of Doniphan, MO, passed away October 18, 2022, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was a life-long resident of Ripley County. Mrs. Elkins was born March 3, 1922, to Malinda and JR (Bob) Hagan. She married Ray Elkins, and together they owned Monarch Feed Store in Doniphan. Mrs. Elkins retired in 1985 as clerk for Ripley County Water District #1. She was an excellent seamstress who loved to quilt, cook, and make clothing for her family.

Mrs. Elkins is survived by her daughter, Barbara Thompson, and son-in-law, Mark Thompson. She is also survived by a brother, Wayne Hagan of Springdale, AR. Mrs. Elkins was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Elkins, her parents, Malinda and JR Hagan, an infant son, Rodney Elkins, and brothers, Bobbie, Bud, Edward, and Ronnie Hagan, and a sister, Fern Murdock.

Visitation for Mrs. Elkins will be Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Edwards Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow. Interment will occur at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Briar, MO.
