Orpha Virginia Jones Ruminer, 70, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Ruminer, daughter of Lonnie and Mable (O'Donnley) Tharp, was born April 24, 1941, in Kennett, Missouri. She had owned and operated a convenience store in rural Ripley County. Mrs. Ruminer enjoyed gardening, flowers, being outside, spending time with her family and canning for which she had won several ribbons. She was a member of Current River Baptist Church. She was married to Jackie Reginald Jones on May 27, 1960, at Kennett, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1992. She married Jerry Ruminer on January 1, 2000, and he survives. Also surviving are four children; Velvet Krueger of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Angela Gail LaBryer and Heather Harris, both of Doniphan, and Jack Jones of Bakersfield, California; four step-children, Jody Ruminer of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Amber McCracken and Brandi Parrish, both of Doniphan, and Pam Stone of Missouri; one sister, Neoma Cooper of Doniphan; and ten grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Brenda Hiles of Grandin, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and one sister, Norma Fahr. Visitation for Mrs. Ruminer will begin at noon on Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Wes Flaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Good hope Cemetery.
