Obituary of Lina Mae Smith
Lina Mae Litherland Smith, 91, of Doniphan, MO, departed her life on earth Monday, August 22, 2022, at Current River Nursing Center. She had been in failing health for the last several years.
Mrs. Smith was born February 19, 1931, in Gatewood, MO, and had lived most of her life in Ripley County. She retired from U. S. Bank where she worked as a teller for many years. Prior to that she worked with her husband, Jack, as owners of the Phillips 66 Distributorship and Nations Discount Store, as well as being a licensed beautician in earlier years.
On July 25, 1951, Lina Mae married Jack O. Smith in Piggott, AR. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1999.
Lina Mae and Jack were parents to three children, Brenda Shirley, Debbie Lidisky, and Douglas Smith, all of Doniphan. She was a loving and cherished Granny to five grandsons, three great-grandsons, and two great granddaughters. The grandkids were the “apples of her eyes”.
Lina Mae loved gardening, flowers, cooking for her family, going on eating and shopping trips, spoiling their many family pets, especially “Girl” and “Mikee” as well as any other hungry strays that stopped by, and reading. Her homemade hot rolls, chic & dumplings, and her biscuits and gravy will be a legacy tough to match by anyone.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jason Jordan officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
