Obituary of Russell W. Caniff

Russell W. Caniff, 82-year-old resident of Grandin, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. He was born April 17, 1940, in East St. Louis, IL, to the late Willard and Florence (Kendell) Caniff.

 

Russell had served in the United States Army. He was employed at and retired from Gates Rubber Company in Poplar Bluff, MO in 1996. Russell enjoyed fishing, music and savored dark chocolate.

 

On May 4, 1976, Russell married Peggy Richmond in Nashville, IL. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage. She survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Mickey (Tom) Bakert of Woodriver, IL and Billee Combs, also of Woodriver, IL; a sister, Dorothy (Frank) Kellison of Pickneyville, IL; special nieces, Christine and Kim, as well as many great nieces and nephews; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many other dear neighbors and friends.

 

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at Stephens Cemetery on K Highway. Brother Pete Joplin will be officiating.
