Ivan R. (Tim) Timmons, 80 year old resident of Doniphan, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the Saint Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, Mo. Mr. Timmons was born June 29, 1931 in Doniphan. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Navy. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3485, and the American Legion. Mr. Timmons was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, and enjoyed playing golf. He spent his working life in law enforcement, and retired as a deputy with the Ripley County Sheriff's Department.
On August 29, 1979 he was married to Nancy Rhames Spach, who survives.
Also surviving are 1 son, Bill Timmons and his wife Julie of Doniphan; 3 daughters, Mildred(Bunny) Willis and her husband John of Byhalia, MS; Odessa Collins and her husband Don of Poplar Bluff; Julia (Julie) Whaley of Doniphan; 11 grandchildren, Travis Timmons, Jason and Shannon Mitchell, Kelli Willis, Joshua, Amanda, Andrew, Alex, Jessica, Clayton, and Daniel Collins; and 2 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Tyler.
Mr. Timmons was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Verneal Murray Timmons; 1 son, John Timmons; and 1 granddaughter, Tiffany Timmons.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dick Murray officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 6-8 P.M.
