Hazel Grieb Obituary

Hazel Jeanette Grieb, 96, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, August 11, 2007, at the Ripley County Memorial Hospital.



Mrs. Grieb was born July 19, 1911, at Sarcoxie, Missouri. She was a retired remedial reading teacher at the elementary level. Mrs. Grieb was a charter member of the Tuesday Reading Club, a member of Eastern Star and the First Christian Church in Doniphan where she held several offices. She served on the Library Board, Friends of the Library, was a Girl Scout leader and belonged to several bridge clubs. Mrs. Grieb was a Sunday School teacher, choir director and the church pianist.



In May, 1936, she was married to Claude C. Grieb, her childhood sweetheart. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1972.



Surviving are one son, Lyndal C. Grieb of Memphis, Tennessee, and one daughter, Shara Moore of Boyd, Texas; one sister, Neva Gray of Carthage, Missouri; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.



Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Artie Greer Brummett; one sister, Twyla Arnett and one brother, Curtis Brummett.



Visitation will be Monday, August 13, 2007, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Doniphan with Brother John Harwell officiating.
