Obituary of John Forrest Wilds

John Forrest Wilds, 80-year-old resident of Grandin, MO, departed this life Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO.  He was born November 4, 1941 in Grandin to the late Harry Wilds and Iva (Jorden) Lewis.

 

John had seen many sights and had a wide variety of experiences during his 50 years of over-the-road truck driving. He liked to be outdoors and enjoyed pitching horseshoes, mowing lawns, and playing ball. John was proud of his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. John attended Good Hope Church.

 

On March 26, 1977, John married Carolyn Long in Cahokia, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his sons, John F. (Kim) Wilds, II of Morehouse, MO, Robert E. Wilds of St. Louis, MO, and Edward J. Wilds of Poplar Bluff, MO; a brother, Willard Wilds of Doniphan; five grandchildren, Caleb, Trenton, Kalee Dawn, Landon ”Monkey”, and Hayden; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Maverick, and Mallory; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded by a son, Matthew C. Wilds; a sister, Evelyn Ann Jenkins; and a brother, Charles Wilds.

 

Visitation will be Monday, February 21, 2022 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Brother Pete Joplin will be officiating. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery.
