Rosemary Bennett Nickell, 74, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Nickell was born May 27, 1937, in Myrtle, Missouri, to the late Herb and Jessie (Hyde) Bennett. She retired as a kindergarten schoolteacher with the Doniphan R-1 School District in Doniphan, Missouri. Mrs. Nickell was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association and the Doniphan Retired Teachers. She was a Three Rivers Community College Booster Club member, enjoying many basketball games and other school events. She was also an avid fan of Doniphan Dons and Donettes sports. Mrs. Nickell enjoyed her grandchildren and she was a member of the Pocahontas First Baptist Church where she was a WMU member. On October 2, 1954 , she married Frank Nickell in Doniphan. He proceded her in death on May 22, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Gena Farrin and husband, Randy, of Pocahontas, Arkansas; two sisters, Neva Bissette and husband, Lewis, of Doniphan and Reva Schwan and husband, Mike, of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Corinne Hastings and husband, Prientes, of Doniphan; five grandchildren, Rusty Farrin and wife, Katie, Roni Farrin, Drew Nickell, Maddie Nickell, and Robbie Nickell; and one daughter-in-law, Kelly Nickell, of Jackson, Tennessee. Mrs. Nickell was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Jeff Nickell. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral will be Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 1 p.m. with Dr. George Miller officiating. Burial will be at Shirley Cemetery. Memorials maybe made to Doniphan Retired Teachers Fund or Jeff Nickell's children at U.S. Bank in Doniphan or First National Bank at Pocahontas.
