Obituary of Ruel Maxwell Gatewood

Ruel Maxwell Gatewood, 86-year-old resident of Doniphan, departed this life November 21, 2021 at his residence.
Ruel was married for 65 years to Barbara Franklin. They were united in marriage on October 13, 1956 in Doniphan, and she survives. In addition, he is survived by one brother, Richard Gatewood, and one sister Barbara Pyles.
Mr. Gatewood, son of the late Rube & Aultie (Bodkin) Gatewood, was born July 15, 1935, in Bragg City, Missouri. Ruel was a 32nd degree Mason and Eastern Star member. He served in the Missouri National Guard for 15 years. Before his retirement he was self-employed with Northend Mobile Station and was a Standard Oil Distributor. He was also a real estate agent with Strout Reality and worked as a supervisor in the oil fields of Texas and New Mexico.
A visitation will be held at Edwards Funeral Home Tuesday beginning at 11 am with a Masonic Service at 12:30. Then Graveside services will be held at 1pm in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
