Obituary of Ron Payne

Please share a memory of Ron to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald L. Payne, 67, of Doniphan, MO, was called home Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born August 4, 1954 in Poplar Bluff to Hubert and Eleanor (McClaren) Payne. Ron had retired from the Missouri Department of Conservation. He gladly served as the pastor for the Pilgrim’s Rest Church. He would light up when sharing about his Savior, Jesus. Just like his father and his brothers, he had a true pastor’s heart and was full of love that he tried to share with all, always leading by example. Ron was a kind, positive, and easy-going person with one of the warmest smiles and a giving heart. He would help as much as possible regardless of the need. Ron had numerous hobbies and passions, ranging from woodworking, raising animals, tending to the cows, and preaching the Good Word. On August 16, 1975, Ron married Debbie Puckett in Ellsinore, MO. She survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Genice (Robert) Mills of Doniphan; his son, Jason Payne, also of Doniphan; a sister, Debbie (James) Crook of Doniphan; brothers, Kevin (Janet) Payne of Doniphan and Joseph (Melonie) Payne of Dexter; as well as five grandchildren, Kameron Lansford, Trey Mills, Hannah Payne, Haily Payne, and Cody Payne. Visitation will be in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 19, 2021 beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Ron’s brothers, Joseph and Kevin Payne will be officiating. Burial will be in the Hunt-White Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Pilgrim’s Rest Building Fund. The family also requests caution and being mindful and respectful of others during the Covid pandemic.
