Helen Francis Gipson, 73, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan.
Ms. Gipson, daughter of Charles Floyd and Faye Marie (Welker) Oakley, was born December 13, 1937, in Poynor, Missouri. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with her children. Ms. Gipson was a member of the Poynor Sugartree Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Al Gipson of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one granddaughter, Lacy Gipson of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one grandson, Kenneth Gipson II of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two sisters, Claretta Odom of St. Louis, Missouri, and Shirley Underhill of Memphis, Tennessee; and four great-grandchildren.
She was formerly married to Virgil Gipson of Doniphan, Missouri, who survives.
Ms. Gipson was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Floyd and Faye Marie Oakley, and two sons, Kenneth Gipson and Vernon Gipson.
Visitation will be Friday evening, December 9, 2011, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will start at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, December 10, 2011, in the funeral home chapel with Brother Jim Baggett officiating. Burial will follow in the Poynor Cemetery.
