Obituary of Russell Smith

Russell Karl Smith, 71, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Smith, son of Vernie and Mabel (Hawkins) Smith, was born March 18, 1940, in Oates, Missouri. He was self-employed as a contractor. Mr. Smith was a member of the Doniphan Masonic Lodge #369 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and quilting. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Captain. He was also associated with the CIA.
On December 20, 1992, he was married to Linda (Neal) Smith at Oates, Missouri. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons; Russell Karl Smith, Jr., Paul Smith and Phillip Smith, all of Denver Colorado; four daughters, Michelle Smith of Denver, Colorado, Karolyn Sue Antinini of Seattle, Washington, Deloris Woodall of Fremont, Missouri, and Jodi Lynn McNeil of Belleview, Missouri; two sisters, Tamara Kim (Steve) Scheets of Salem, Missouri, and Vicky Lynn (Tom) Bayer of Rolla, Missouri; one brother, Kirby Lee (Robin) Smith of Centerville, Missouri; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Wanda Sue Miller and Brenda Lou Ploudre, and three brothers, Bobby Gene Smith, Kenneth Edwin Smith and Larry Ronald Smith.
Visitation for Mr. Smith will be Thursday evening, December 8, 2011, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan with a Masonic Service to start at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday morning, December 9, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Steve Scheets, brother-in-law of Mr. Smith, officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Cemetery in Oates, Missouri, with John Shepherd speaking.
