John Robert Larmore, 87, of Gatewood, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Larmore, son of Oliver and Cora (Potter) Larmore, was born June 7, 1924, in Malden, Missouri. He had been a groundskeeper at a golf course and had worked many years ago at the CCC Camp. Mr. Larmore enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and playing music. On November 29, 1972, he was married to Sylvia Sullivan in Elkheart, Indiana. She survives. Also surviving are eight sons: Robert Larmore of Berea, Kentucky, Lloyd Larmore of Taylorsville, North Carolina, Johnnie Larmore of Seattle, Washington, Joy Lee Larmore of Hickory, North Carolina, Bill Larmore of Springfield, Missouri, Kevin Larmore of Doniphan, Missouri, Karlton Larmore of Oak Grove, Kentucky, and Kyle Larmore of Gatewood; five daughters, Ethel Brock of Conover, North Carolina, June Prough of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Sherry Eakins of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Francine Smith of Doniphan and Kathy Davis of Maynard, Arkansas; 35 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Orvil Larmore of Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Larmore was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Cora Larmore, two brothers, Melvin Larmore and Bill Larmore and four sisters, Imogene Larmore, Doris House, Genevieve Eagan and Fern Gates. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m Monday morning, December 5, 2011, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Cemetery with Brother Bob Sorrell officiating.
