Obituary of Freddie Sims

Freddie Edmond Sims, 81, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday evening, November 22, 2011, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan.
Mr. Sims, son of William and Pearl (Geary) Sims, was born October 27, 1930, in Gideon, Missouri. He was retired from the U. S. Postal Service and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in Viet Nam. Mr. Sims was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
He was first married to Vivian Maata and she preceded him in death on October 15, 1989. He later married Barbara (Lawson) Terry at Dyersburg, Tennessee, on June 26, 1993, and she survives.
Also surviving are three step-children: Andy Terry of Halls, Tennessee, Treva Rogers of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Kenneth Terry of Doniphan; one sister, Alpha Dunn of Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee; two brothers, William Sims, Jr. of Pilot Grove, Missouri, and Donald Sims of St. Louis, Missouri; four step-grandchildren, Amber, Andrea, Jessica and Tyler; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Sims will be Friday evening, November 25, 2011, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Saturday morning, November 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Assembly of God Church Building Fund.
