Obituary of Betty Fay Murdock

Betty Fay Murdock, 89-year-old resident of the Ponder Community, departed this life Monday, July 27, 2020. She was born February 8, 1931 in Ponder, MO to the late Reginald Robert “Boots” and Hope Vivian (Holland) Webb. Betty Fay was a retired teacher touching the lives of many over the years as she shared her love of learning. She held a person spellbound with her written and oral stories. She taught at Ponder, Union, Matthews, Shirley, Wilson, Lone Star, Gatewood, Doniphan, and Corning Schools, ending her teaching career at Gatewood where she taught her grandchildren. Mrs. Murdock was a member of the Ponder Booster Club, BPW (Business and Professional Women), and Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Ponder Church of Christ. On April 2, 1949, Betty Fay married Robert “Bob” Murdock in Pocahontas, AR. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2008. Survivors include her sons, Wendell Murdock of Gatewood, Daniel (Peggy) Murdock of Doniphan, and Doug (Kim) Murdock of Pocahontas, AR; her daughters, Roberta (Raymond) Belcher and Susan (Michael) Brooks, both of Doniphan; and 21 grandchildren, Brad Murdock, Bryan (Paula) Murdock, Jason (April), Murdock, Tammy, (Billy) Raderstorf, Tabatha ( Rodney) Honeycutt, Tiffany (Jason) Smith, Tricia (Derrick) Bennett, Traci (Dustin) Evans, Rena (Matt) Armstrong, Kelli (Terry) Hastings, Shawn (Beth) Reeves, Jamie (Eddie) LaFuente, Erica Murdock, Morgan Murdock, Austin Murdock, Trevor (Tiffany) Murdock, Aaron (Britney) McPeake, Kerbe (Jason) Redus, Brock (Lindi) Johnson, and Benjamin (Lisa) Johnson; 57great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Murdock was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Judy Murdock; a sister, Carol Ann Krieg; and one brother, Curtiss Webb. Visitation will be Friday, July 31, 2020 from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Raymond Belcher will be officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
