Norman Harold Murray, 84, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, November 7, 2011, at Cedargate Nursing Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mr. Murray, son of Frank and Effie (Link) Murray, was born March 20, 1927, in Doniphan. He was a sawmiller and auctioneer. Mr. Murray enjoyed coon hunting, horseback riding and telling stories. He was a member of Simpson Creek General Baptist Church.
On June 19, 1945, he was married to Stella Robbins at Pocahontas, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2004.
Surviving are: four sons, Franklin (and Laura) Murray and Darren (and LeAnn) Murray, both of Doniphan, Harold (and Lynda) Murray of Fairdealing, Missouri, and Dewey (and Cindy) Murray of Arcadia, Florida; two daughters, Kay (and A. B.) Hale of Doniphan and Darlane (and Matt) Lemmons of Fairdealing; one sister, Izora Robinson of Doniphan; and seven grandchildren, Jeff Hale, Jerry Hale, Jay Hale, Kasey Williams, Tyler Watkins, Taylor Watkins and Collin Murray.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Effie Murray, and one son, Larry Murray.
Visitation for Mr. Murray will be Wednesday evening, November 9, 2011, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Thursday morning, November 10, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Hubert Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
