Aaron Howard, 73-year-old resident of Gatewood, MO, was carried home by God’s angels Sunday, July 5, 2020. He was born October 6, 1946 in Ripley County to the late Floyd and Nola (Patterson) Howard. Aaron was employed and retired from a maintenance position with MODOT. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and spending time on Current River. Aaron was one of the first people in Ripley County to have a CB and was known to friends and fellow hunters as “Red Fox”. Aaron was also a member of New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He had served in the United States Army during the War in Vietnam. Aaron was the rock of the family and loved and treasured spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. On September 12, 1965, Aaron married his beloved wife, Janet O’Neal. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Shannon Forrest of Piedmont, MO and one son, Jason (Laura) Howard of Van Buren, MO; his sister, Hermmena (Ronnie) Robertson of Doniphan; his grandchildren, Brittany (Jake) Hime, Brooke (Justin) Rose, Coty ( Mara) Howard, Taylor Howard, Lexi Howard, and Jesey Howard; and his great-grandchildren, Cash and Cruz Hime and Forrest Rose. He also leaves behind many more family members, friends, and neighbors. In addition to his parents, Mr. Howard was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Howard. Visitation for the public will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2020 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will take place at the family cemetery with Pastor Jared Baker officiating. Pall bearers will be Jason Howard, Coty Howard, Taylor Howard, Mitchell Steinkuehler, Jake Hime, and Justin Rose.
