Obituary of Helen Boshears

Helen (Thompson) Boshears, 95-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. She was born June 14, 1925 to the late Lemuel and Edna (Sease) Thompson in Doniphan. Helen was the youngest of six children.
On March 31, 1945, Helen married her high school sweetheart, Max Boshears. They both attended and graduated from Grandin High School. Helen had worked and retired from Vitonic in 1990. Her hobbies were cooking, gardening, and sewing. She loved her family and her happiest times were when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit. Helen was a long-time member of the Logan Creek Baptist Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Dick, Jim, and Lem Thompson, and two sisters, Charity Kurkendall and Marie Simon Taylor.
Mrs. Boshears is survived by her three children: her son, Bill (Becky) Boshears of Doniphan; her daughters; Marilyn (Terry) Jorgensen of Hebron, OH, and Carolyn (Bob) Rhoades of Long Beach, MS; five grandchildren, Shannon (Jeremy) Martin, Angie (Bryan) Harwell, Matt (Jewel) Bahr, Mike (Carol) Bahr, and Bob (Shona) Marshall; nine great-grandchildren, Aubrey Martin, Zakk Harwell, Coda Harwell, Lennox Harwell, Ethan Bahr, Connor Bahr, Lydia Bahr, Diane Marshall, and Ryleigh Marshall; and her sister-in-law, Helen Scogin; as well as many other family members and friends.
Helen’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the dedicated nurses and staff of the Current River Nursing Center. While in their care, she received unlimited amounts of love and compassion. They would also like to express their thanks to the Preferred Hospice staff, whose understanding and sensitivity were of great comfort to Helen and her family.
Due to COVID-19, a private family service was held prior to interment at Macedonia Cemetery. Donnie Sanford officiated. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for any memorial donations be made to a church of the donor’s choice or a charity of their choice.
