Fayrene Leroux-Cope, 86-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Saturday, May 23, 2020. She was born March 4, 1934 in Ripley County, MO to the late Joe T. and Ellen (McKnight) Harris. In her lifetime, Fayrene had worked at the Pentagon and as a hair stylist, bookkeeper, housewife, and a taxi driver. She retired from the production line at Vitronic. Mrs. Leroux-Cope was a member of both the Doniphan and Naylor Eastern Star and a charter member of the Eagles. Fayrene enjoyed reading, fishing, bowling, cooking, and helping raise her grandchildren. Mrs. Leroux-Cope was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, serving as treasurer for several terms and was recognized as the VFW Woman of the Year in 1998. On May 16, 1963, Fayrene married Jearl Leroux. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1987. She later married Jim Cope on September 5, 1987 in Doniphan, MO. He, too, preceded her in death. Mrs. Leroux-Cope was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry Leroux; a brother, Joe Gene Harris; and grandchildren, Megan Leroux, Tanner Leroux, and Conner Leroux. Surviving are two sons, John (Anna) Leroux of Jackson, MO and Robert (Janae) Leroux of Doniphan and her grandchildren, Jearl Todd Yarber, Miranda Dee-Anne Leroux, Victoria Leroux, William-Andrew Leroux, and Fiona Leroux. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the VFW Post 3485, P. O. Box 153, Doniphan, MO 63935, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
